REFEREE COURSES

The ASSOCIATION Referee Courses consist of Community, Development, Intermediate and Advanced. From this point Basketball NSW provides accreditation for State level grades.

This is an entry level accreditation for most referees. Teaches the basics of refereeing the game – fouls, violations, administration, and mechanics (where to run on the court). After completing this level, referees are accompanied on the court by an accredited official to help them get used to the practical side of the game.

The Community Referee Course covers the basic fundamentals of refereeing, and is suited for school teachers, parents or beginners to basketball. Attendees must be turning 13 in the year of the course.

The Development course provides more instruction on refereeing the game. The course is broad and touches upon all the major elements involved in refereeing at association levels of competition.

The Development Referee Course is for Community Qualified referees only.
